Wisdom teeth antibiotics causing yeast infection? is it going to go on its own after?
3 days ago i got my wisdom teeth removed and started my antibiotics.. however like the next day i started getting white vaginal discharge which is most likely a yeast infection for the most part, and i know that sometimes while on antibiotics, it can cause yeast infections because they kill off the good bacteria in your vagina. I was wondering if the yeast infection will go away on its own when im done with my antibiotics or do I have to treat it myself?

This happens everytime I have dental work requiring antibiotics–and it is common. One in 4 or 5 women experience this.
Unfortunately, the yeast infection will never go away without treatment.
I normally ask the dentist who prescribed me the antibiotics for a prescription for "Diflucan". It is the easiest treatment and works wonderfully.
It is only ONE pill–and it clears it right up within a day or two.
I sometimes also buy Monistat, just to have the tube of cream to use on the outer itchy areas–for relief sooner, til the pill works.
Or you can buy the over the counter creams (Monistat, femstat) and use the cream internally for 5-7 nights.
The pill is MUCH easier, believe me!
In fact anytime I am put on antibiotics, I ask for the Diflucan prescription, just in case.
The doctor could even call it in to your pharmacy to save time–and some docs will put in for a refill, in case the one pill doesn’t work completely.
no it won’t go away. U need to treat it! Start taking probiotics asap
yeah it should go down once you finish the antibiotics
but while your still on them maybe try eating yogurt and anything with pro biotics in them (yakult if you can get it) and you can also buy pro biotic capsules if you want
if the yeast infection gets annoying, you can get a cream from your pharmacy that will eliminate some of the symptoms..
but yeah, one your course of antibiotics is done it will gradually go away, but it might take a few days
The yeast infection won’t go away when the antibiotics stop, BUT many yeast infections do resolve themselves during your next menstral cycle. Not sure what happens exactly, but it’s common for your period to just correct the yeast imbalance.
Still, it might be several weeks to wait before that happens, and it doesn’t always do the trick. You might want to just treat it now and get it over with.
The overgrowth of yeast does not go away after you stop taking antibiotics. You can get Monistat over-the-counter and treat yourself, you can see a doctor or you can try eating a lot of plain yogurt or taking probiotics while still taking the antibiotics and/or try drinking 2-3 glasses of water a day with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar added to help fight the yeast.
