Yeast Infection:
It is the second most common vaginal infection and accounts
for many telephone calls to our office. The vagina, the mouth and the
intestinal tract contain small amounts of yeast cells. Pregnancy,
antibiotics, diabetes mellitus and the human Immunodeficiency virus can
cause overgrowth of the yeast cells. The patient typically complains of "cottage cheese-like" discharge with no
odor. They have intense itch at the vaginal entrance. Examination of these
patients may show redness and scratch marks at the vulva. The vagina also
displays the thick white curdy "cottage cheese- like" discharge which stick
to the walls like yeast infection in the mouths of babies. Microscopy
confirms the diagnosis by disclosing the yeast cells.
1st – there are some STD’s with no signs until it’s too late namely chlamydia and HIV.
Yeast infections or std’s that resemble them have obvious clues like itching and thickening of mucus in and around the vagina. If there is a noticeable odor, it may be an std. The answer above is great for yeast infection info.
Herpes, if you get infected, takes about two weeks to blow up all over your affected area. Beware!!! Herpes does NOT repeat NOT have to show on your partner for it to be transferred.
Some women have yeast infections every month because of their period. I feel badly for these unlucky women. Anything that disrupts the Ph balance of the vaginal area, can cause a yeast infection. Even a major change in your diet such as sudden increase or decrease in sugar can result in one. (Trust me, it happened to me in college after a diet of snickers, Pepsi and sweet coffee.)
Go to your gyn or planned parenthood type clinic for testing and screening. Your local health department should provide free and confidential testing for HIV and testing for other things like syphilis, etc. Get tested for all of it and always practice safe sex.
Hope u r ok. Please don’t learn the hard way. Good luck.
I don’t know about STDs but to prevent yeast infections eat yogurt. I don’t why it works but it does. A small yogurt everyday will keep it away. Also, it you wear jeans or slacks everyday this could cause a yeast infection. Wear cotton panties.
