Problem:
I’ve been having this irregular thick discharge down there that is different than my normal. It is white with a slight tint of yellow, it is very very thick but not like cottage cheese, more like vaseline but more opaque. There is no foul odor, no fishy smell, and I don’t feel itchy down there or feel burning when I urinate. Overall I feel pretty normal down there except for the discharge.
I used the Vagisil screening kit and it says I have a normal vaginal pH.

Question:
1. Do you think it’s yeast infection? I don’t have health insurance so I can’t go to an ob/gyn. Should I just go ahead and try to clear it up with Monistat?

2. I read somewhere on the net that when a woman is pregnant, she gets some thick white discharge too, is that true? I had unprotected sex with my husband about 2 weeks ago (using the pull-out method), my period is supposed to start in a few days from now, do you think the thick discharge that I’m having is caused by pregnancy?

Thanks.

So my girlfriend and i were just wondering because we are a little worried. About a week and a half ago, i fingered her and she played with me and thats all that happened. We did not have sex. Now she said her vagina itches and today she felt like she would get hot and then cold, hot and then cold. I was wondering if this is just a yeast infection and if the hot cold symptoms were just part of the yeast infection or if this could be pregnancy?

Hey Everyone,

I’m currently about 20/21 weeks pregnant with my second child. (my son is currently 2 years old) I seem to have forgotten what being pregnant is like!
When I went in on Nov 2007 for my prenatal testing, I came out negative for everything (STI/STD wise) and didn’t have an abnormal pap. My doctor mentioned she saw a sign of "yeasties" on my exam, but nothing to worry about. Well, I do have the semi-typical syptoms of a yeast infection; slight itchy, slight burning (all outside) and my discharge is a normal color it’s always been (between clear-whitish-buttery whitish).
Well, I’m nervous about using the over-the counter products and I’m seeing my doctor (routine) on Thursday. I was test for sti’s/std’s 2004, 2005 and now 2007 – so I’m sure it isn’t anything like Chlamydia or Gonorrhea. Yet, I never had used those products before and my mind is getting paranoid more so now. Yes, I have had YI’s before my pregnancy but they usually cleared up with my period.
The question is: Should I ask my doctor about meds to take or should I just do the over-the-counter meds?
I also have a tipped uterus so when I had used them, a long time ago, it wasn’t very easy.
And of course, I cant try the Vagsil testing because it says pregnant women can’t use it.

I’m 33 weeks preg. today and I know infections can cause premature labor this late which is why I need help fast! I was diagnosed w/ a yeast infection and prescribed a 3-day suppository. I’ve heard 3 day treatments don’t work during preg. and that what I was prescribed can cause birth defects (although so rarely it’s not considered a risk…not good enough for me). The clinic where I go has proven incompetant many times (I have no other choice, so I really can’t do anything but do most of my own research, which is why I ask a lot of questions here), and I don’t trust them with this. Are vinegar or baking soda baths safe/effective during pregnancy? Does anyone else know of a non-drug treatment which is safe while pregnant? For those who will attack me, I am not going against doctors’ orders and being neglegent…I’m honestly trying to do what’s best for my baby’s health, which is not always what is advised by these docs. Thanks to everyone who offers advice.

okay so I have been having been trying to conceive for the past 4 months and I just found out I have a yeast infection and I was wondering if this may be a pregnancy sign or symptom. If so when should I test.

I went to the doctor yesterday because of excess discharge. She said it was just a yeast infection and to use the 7 day OTC treatment. As soon as I used it discomfort set in. I had no other symptoms until I used the medication and now I’m going crazy.

I’m going to continue using it until I’m done with the treatment, but I’m worried about this infection during my pregnancy. Is it dangerous to my baby? Could the OTC medication be making it worse?

I read that pregnancy can cause a yeast infection, is this true? I have one and i wanted to know if its serious? I’m very early along, so no bump yet, but just wanted to make sure the yeast infection won’t cause any damage? It’s very slight, the infection.

Did anyone experience a yeast infection as their first pregnancy sign? I have had my first yeast infection in years, coupled with a newfound sensitivity to metal in my earrings and extreme exhaustion… Just wondering in anyone else had the same experience.

I’m four months pregnant, and recently my doctor diagnosed me with a yeast infection. I took the medicine exactly like I was told, but I think it didn’t fully take care of the problem. What effects does a yeast infection have on the pregnancy?

I Believe I have a yeast infection. I’ve never had one before but I’ve read the symptoms and have all of them. Also, My period is 5 days late. I tested for pregnancy yesterday and it came back negative. I’m cramping and my breast are sore , as usual PMS. Can a yeast infection cause an interruption to your menstrual cycle? Also the last time I had unprotected sex was a week and 2 days ago.

Sorry if too much info, but I am currently 4 weeks pregnant and I have this HORRIBLE yeast infection. I have some cream but am afraid to use it because I have miscarried before and I don’t want to do anything to cause any harm! Is it safe to use over the counter creams for yeast infections this early in pregnancy? Thank you!!!
Uhh, don’t be childish curly, its just an avatar. Grow up..
