After using a 3-day over the counter treatment, how long should you wait before having sex?

My infection was rather mild, it didn’t get bad at all and I started the treatment as soon as I noticed any symptoms. Yesterday (Tuesday) was my last application of it. I feel no symptoms currently, but I know you should wait for awhile before you are sexually active.

I’m going to visit my boyfriend this weekend– do you think it should be safe by then? Or should I wait it out even longer?
it was a monistat 3 day treatment.

I found out i had one last sunday and i have been using the monistat 3 day treatment. I was wondering should i buy more monistat just in case. I still feel a little bit of discomfort but not as much as i did sunday. However, when i put in the applicators it burns like a lit match each time is this normal? Also, how long is it usually safe to have sex after a yeast infection? I know i got this yeast infection from using antibiotics. How do i prevent them from coming back?

I recently had a yeast infection that I took care of using Monistat 3. Or, at least, I lost 99% of the symptoms after I’d finished it. A couple days later, I developed slight itching and the creamy, not really wet discharge that kind of builds up on either side of my clitoris over every few hours. Not an overwhelming amount, but enough that if I were to swipe my finger, it would cover the tip of it up to where my nail comes out of my skin. It doesn’t really smell like anything in particular, but it’s whitish.

It’s around the time I usually get my menstrual cycle, and I’m having slight cramps. I’ve been pretty tired all the time. I’ve heard of early-pregnancy-related yeast infections so I decided to take a pregancy test, but when I wiped after taking it, there was blood. Not a lot, and very diluted, but I figured I was starting and I put a tampon in. For some reason it didn’t fit the right way and I had to take it out in a matter of minutes, but the blood on it was light brown.

Is this just a coincidence, or is it a warning of something bigger?
Although I’m sure the immature people on here will comment otherwise, yes, I do shower regularly.

I don’t douche, and I’m not on any birth control.

Within the last couple of days I’ve been without my sleeping meds, if that has anything to do with it. The other night I only had half a dose and last night I wasn’t able to have any.

i’m 14 and i’m pretty sure i have a yeast infection. i haven’t gone to a doctor yet but i have an appointment. but most of the cures include inserting one of those egg things from a tube, like monistat 3 or something, and it’s hard for me to insert things in there. i cant even get tampons to work. so i was wondering if there was something i could use, like a cream or a pill instead, that would get rid of a yeast infection if i do have one.

So this has been for about the past month or so. My vagina started having a slight bad odour, a little bit fishy. There is no noticeable discharge. There is, however, a white sort of substance that gathers around my clitoris and under my clitoral hood mostly. It seemed like it was yeast growth to me, so I used Monistat 3. You’re supposed to wait seven days to see full results, and not use tampons, because they will absorb medication. It is literally impossible for me not to use a tampon, my period is ridiculously heavy right now, I have to use a tampon and a maxi-pad and change it every 3-4 hours. I haven’t seen any improvement in the white substance, and I’m on my 5th day. Should I wait longer or perhaps get checked for BV?
Yeah it was originally very very itchy, but I think maybe I got used to it. And it burned after sexual intercourse. Both my partner and I have had no previous partners, so it’s not an STD. Can you have BV and a yeast infection at the same time?

Yesterday was suppose to be my last day for Monistat 3 but i accidentally forgot to take it last night so when i woke up this morning i quickly took the last treatment. Will it still get rid of my yeast infection or do i have to restart and buy another treatment?

I have been trying to get rid of this yeast infection that I have had for a week now. I went to the store as advised by my mom and got some Monistat 3. I used it and it did take away the itch and the discharge wasn’t coming out as heavy anymore. It finally cleared up completely on the 5th day, until my boyfriend and I had sex and during it we discovered some of the cloudy discharge was left on his penis from me. Was that still the discharge from the yeast infection or is that just normal?

A few days after my period, I noticed some itching around my crotch area. This went on for 2-3 days without becoming severe. I then had sex with my boyfriend yesterday, but it did not feel good, so I had him pull out. He noticed little chunks of white discharge on his penis, so we eventually came to the conclusion that I had a yeast infection. I have never had one before. We just went and purchased the generic store brand of Monistat 3-Day with three vaginal suppositories and three applicators (I’d heard that the actual Monistat brand burns upon application, so I didn’t want to take any chances with that). I am a little puzzled by the applicators and the suppositories, but I’ll figure it out tonight before use. I am 25 years old, to give some background.

I was wondering, since we had sex while I had the yeast infection, does he need to get treated as well? I have read that he could cause me to get another vaginal yeast infection if we had sex again after I treat what I have now. How does a male get treated for this? We will not be having sex until I am rid of this yeast infection.

Also, do vaginal yeast infections ever go away on their own, or do they always need to be cured with OTC or doctor-prescribed treatments? Are there any side effects of waiting more than a few days to get treated?

Thank you for any knowledgeable help and advice.
Thank you for all the responses so far. The itching around the vulva has gotten pretty severe today. I have researched and it seems that I have virtually all of the yeast infection symptoms (I have experienced an STI and even bacterial vaginitis in the past, and this is neither of those).
