Should i buy more monistat to cure my yeast infection?

I found out i had one last sunday and i have been using the monistat 3 day treatment. I was wondering should i buy more monistat just in case. I still feel a little bit of discomfort but not as much as i did sunday. However, when i put in the applicators it burns like a lit match each time is this normal? Also, how long is it usually safe to have sex after a yeast infection? I know i got this yeast infection from using antibiotics. How do i prevent them from coming back?

The 3-day treatment should have cleared up the infection just fine. If you still feel you have symptoms, go to the doctor or clinic to make sure. If they say you have an abnormal amount of yeast still, they will recommend further treatment. As far as the discomfort caused by the medication, it is a normal side effect of the medicine. It can be irritating for the sensitive skin in the vagina. I would wait a couple days after you’ve finished the medicine to have sex. The medicine can decrease the effectiveness of latex in a condom, so if you use condoms you want to make sure to be safe with them. Preventing them from coming back can be done in a few ways. If you’re on antibiotics, you can’t really help that. But if you wear tight clothing where your body can’t "breathe" it could cause it to come back. Also, don’t wear a wet swimsuit for any longer than you have to. Yeast grows in warm and moist conditions, so that would basically be a breeding ground.
it takes time for it to work. it just won’t clear up in three days. don’t spend your money unless you need to. also, if it doesn’t work, go see yor doctor. OTC yeast infection medication doesn’t work for me and i have to get the prescription stuff.
Don’t know about the burning and the Monistat. If you kept the instruction slip or if there is a phone number on the box, call the Monistat people. It may be you still have it, or that it is all gone, and the Monistat is irritating you.

you should usually wait a week before having sex again, otherwise you might re-irritate your vagina. It will probably be sore for a little bit after the yeast infection is gone. Also, sometimes Monistat 3 isn’t enough to treat a yeast infection and you might need more. If you still feel discomfort, I’d go to a doctor. If you don’t have money or insurance, try Planned Parenthood – they charge based on your income. There really isn’t much you can do to prevent them from coming back. One thing I suggest is peeing after sex or cleaning after sex (if you’re not using condoms). Good Luck.
Buy some more, but get a seven day treatment. See the doctor if your symptoms don’t clear up afterwards.
Also try cutting down on sugary foods and breads, pasta, cake, etc while you treat the infection. Sugar and all that other stuff feeds the yeast and could make it harder to get rid of.
