Natural Yeast Infection Treatment During Pregnancy?
I’m 33 weeks preg. today and I know infections can cause premature labor this late which is why I need help fast! I was diagnosed w/ a yeast infection and prescribed a 3-day suppository. I’ve heard 3 day treatments don’t work during preg. and that what I was prescribed can cause birth defects (although so rarely it’s not considered a risk…not good enough for me). The clinic where I go has proven incompetant many times (I have no other choice, so I really can’t do anything but do most of my own research, which is why I ask a lot of questions here), and I don’t trust them with this. Are vinegar or baking soda baths safe/effective during pregnancy? Does anyone else know of a non-drug treatment which is safe while pregnant? For those who will attack me, I am not going against doctors’ orders and being neglegent…I’m honestly trying to do what’s best for my baby’s health, which is not always what is advised by these docs. Sweetie, listen. when your pregnant your body goes thru so many different changes it crazy but when i was pregnant i did get , a very common in pregnancy, an infection. it was kind of a yeast infection, cause it had all the syptoms but it was and actual "yeast infection" . My obgyn gave me a suppository, just like yours, for 3 days and the infection is gone. I got this infection twice.
My son is 100% health and he’s great. Im pretty sure that a doctor or clinic would give you anything that would harm you baby. Believe me when i say that i know what your going through. You want everything to be perfect with your baby. but im pretty sure that what you have is what i had.

i was told many times that plain nonflavored yogart helps. i guess your suppose to put so much of it inside you but im not sure for how long.i got this advise awhile back from my family dr. but never tried it
a yeast infection is the result of the area becoming basic (chemically) rather than acidic as is the natural chemistry. a vinegar douch, or bath, is acidic, but a baking soda bath increases the basisity and will increase the infection. vinegar reduces, and often can eliminate a yeast infection over several days.
the medication is designed to kill the yeast, not change the chemistry of the affected area. yeast cannot survive in an acidic environment, but will thrive if it becomes basic.
acidity is the amount of acid in the area, basisity is the amount of non-acidicity in the area. example: sodium hydroxide is a base, hydrochloric acid is an acid. when you combine the two, you get table salt (pure form), and water.
the affected area should be just slightly acidic. if it is not, then yeast will begin to grow in it.
a vinegar bath will get the area back into an acidic state, but the amount of vinegar should not be more than one half cup to a gallon of water. this is sufficient to create an acidic solution able to help stop the yeast from growing.
I had my very first yeast infection last year, I felt soooo gross while I had it, but, the very best natural treatment is natural live yogurt, the bacteria in the yogurt eats the yeast.
what you do for at least three days is, eat it, mix it with water and drink it and cover the entire area where you itch with it, I’m not joking, this works soooo well, it soothes the itch straight away and the bacteria gets straight on the case, if you have internal itching the dip a tampon in the yogurt and then use it normally. I promise you this will work, it feels really weird but in three or four days you’ll be all cleared up. I promise, I know, I did the same thing and it was recommended by my sister who’s a nurse.
definitely eat the yogurt and make it a regular part of your diet, like me, now you’ve had it you’ll be more prone to it, so eat the yogurt on a regular basis.
oh, also wear a skirt all the time and no knickers to let the air get to it, if you really can’t stand the idea of going commando then buy some panty liners and smear the yogurt on them.
I know this sounds gross….but i read that if you wrap an unwrapped garlic clove in gauze and stick it just inside you with a bit hanging out (so that you can pull it out) it will rid you of your yeast infection. I tried this my self a while back and it worked wonders…also if you eat plain unsweetened yogurt and also insert a bit of this inside yourself it will get rid of it.
okay this is going to sound…weird and a bit gross but TRUST ME!
1 or 2 capsules of goldenseal (it also comes in drops…would use 4 to 6 drops) and mix them with warm water and use as a douche. After cleansing with this mixture, I then follow by douching with plain yogurt . Goldenseal is a natural antibiotic and the yogurt replaces good bacteria that is lost during douching.
also for itching and burning…
pour a half cup of vinegar and a half cup of salt into a luke warm bath (about waist high). Soak in it about 20 minutes and you will find almost instant relief.
you should also eat plenty of yogurt…it replaces GOOD bacteria in our bodies that most medications and/or during pregnancy we lose do to hormonal changes.
