Just had cryotherapy and am not supposed to use tampons – can I use a yeast infection treatment w/ insertion?

July 2nd, 2009 by admin | Filed in Yeast Infection Treatments

I was wondering, I just had cryotherapy 5 days ago and I’m not supposed to use tampons or have intercourse, but I think i’m developing a yeast infection. Can I use a treatment for yeast infections that require insertion of a “syringe” type thing that inserts the yeast infection cream into the vagina? Or should I get something else?

My guess would be "no". There is a great prescription medication (in pill form….yea!) called Diflucan which treats yeast infections very effectively and very quickly. The dosage is usually 1 pill once a day for 2 days. Ask your doctor for a prescription.
    Best of luck.

I don’t think they want you putting ANYTHING in there due to infection risk. Call your doc and ask what to use; be sure to remind him/her that you jsut had the cryotherapy.

I had cryotherapy years ago. You don’t just go in and have this done, they run all kinds of tests first. Seems to me that if you have a yeast infection, the doctor would know this and prescribe something for you. Don’t add insult to injury. They told you not to insert anything and you do not want to do that. You could irritate the area and end up right back where you started or worse. Call the doctor and ask them about it. They can check you out and take care of it. Don’t self-medicate. You could be asking for more trouble.
