It is not unheard of for a partner to contribute to BV. But one thing that many don’t think about is that these infections are more common in women with diabetes and with high carbohydrate diets. Make sure that you are completing the entire prescription of antibiotics as well. If you have a resistant infection, ask for a culture and sensitivity to be performed to see if the infection is resistant to Metronidiazole. If it is there are other infections to treat BV. The yeast infection is a side effect of the antibiotics or possibly because of diabetes. Be sure that your infection is gone by following up after completion of the treatment and ask your partner to be evaluated to see if he is the cause of the reinfection. If so, then abstain until both parties have been treated and cleared by a doctor.

Are you having sex? If so..get your partner treated also. You are probably just passing it back and forth. Once both of you are clear then you will be fine.

If you are having sex you are probably just passing it back and forth. If not…. Are you on any antibiotics for any reason?? They can kill even the good bacteria in your body making you more prone to yeast infections. And one more suggestion is to eat yogurt, it has things in it that regulates the bacteria in your body and can help women who have recurring yeast infections. Hope that helps!

Well, if there is a fellow in your life- start with scrubbing him down with an antibacterial soap and requiring him to be freshly scrubbed before anything friendly goes on. You also need to swear off all intimate contact as long as you are being treated. For you, there are a few other things to do. First, get rid of all the nylon panties and definitely any thongs. A thong is a two lane highway from the anus to the vagina, which help transport the bacteria that can cause BV in the first place. You need all white, cotton undies. Next, address personal cleansing after a trip to the toilet. You need baby wipes. Be sure you wipe from front to back, NEVER back to front. After a pat dry with the TP- which should also be plain, white and unperfumed, you need to wipe/wash with the baby wipe. You can also use the wet toilet cleaning wipes they sell- but baby wipes are cheaper. The toilet wipes will flush though- so it’s your choice. Undies need to be washed in hot water, with bleach, and bake dried. Avoid pantyhose at all costs until you are well cleared up as well- and even then, try to avoid wearing them all day long unless you slit the crotch so you can have airflow and lower temperatures in the region. Sleep au naturel, without undies as well. If you can swing it, a little sun exposure and fresh air every day will help as well. Bacteria, viruses and fungus like warm, moist, dark spots best. So light and air are good weapons against them- though in that area it can be tough to arrange. Don’t soak in the tub either- it’s showers for you. Use an antibacterial soap for the region, and wash there last. Then wash the cloth before using it again. If you use a bath sponge or scrubbie, dip it in bleach water and hang it to dry. If it’s not dry before you need it again, blow it dry or don’t use it. Don’t use body powders, scented bath soaps, bubble baths or the like. And for heaven’s sake don’t douche or use those "feminine sprays". These things should help you break your repeat infection cycle. And if you are being treated, it’s a good idea to treat the fellow at the same time. They don’t get it, but they can sure provide a temporary shelter and give it right back to you. Good luck.
