external yeast infection?
alright so i figured i had an external yeast infection for the past month and some because i’ve had a white discharge and itching that was only in the folds of skin and around my clitoris so i bought some of the canesten external cream and i put some on before bed last night and it’s made things worse rather than better. my discharge smells worse now and it’s changed consistency a little (i know, gross) and it’s still kind of itchy. is it possible it gets worse before it gets better? also, i had thrush in my mouth from antibiotics that i finished about three weeks ago so i was prescribed nystatin to "swoosh and swallow" a few times a day. anyway, while i was on this stuff i had the discharge and itching down below and the discharge got smelly like it is now and again changed consistency from thick and white to runny and it was still quite itchy. i’m just putting two and two together because they are both antifungals but the nystatin may have had no effect on what’s going on down below. anyways, i’m just wondering if i’m making this thing worse with the canesten cream? if anyone has experienced anything like this? or had an external yeast infection before and what they did about it? thanks!

if you really want to get rid of yeast infection then you must follow these tips – they worked for me:
1) Eat yogurt!!!! It contains helpful bacteria (live cultures, including acidophilus and bifidus) that destroy yeast. Use only plain yogurt with active cultures.
2) Douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water. Repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week.
3) Decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary foods. Sugar promotes yeast growth.
4) Use a garlic clove as a suppository. Garlic contains a natural anti-fungal agent.
5) Try gentian violet. It’s a traditional remedy for yeast and other infections, and can be found in pharmacies. Swab the area with it once or twice a day. Make sure to use a thick pad – it stains everything.
6) Use an herbal douche. Combine equal amounts of sage, raspberry and comfrey with 1/4 part goldenseal. This can be combined with cider vinegar.
7) also you should use some herbal treatment. In that case Yeastrol is really good (probably the best) product that gets rid of yeast infection comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that it wont reappear again!

I would head to the doctor because it could be BV(Bacterial Vaginosis) and not actually a yeast infection. I have had lots of yeast infections over the years and they never really smelled bad, just white discharge an ditching. I got BV as a freshman in college and it was terrible i had smelly discharge, itchiness you name it and i had to get on antibiotics to clear it up. Now keep in mind BV is not an STD its an overload of Lactobaciilus which is a common type of bacteria down there and it can multiply and over grow just like yeast. I would definatly let your Gyno check you out and it it is yeast they can give you some Diflucan and clear it right up.
