chronic candida overgrowth, doctors cant help, any suggestions or experiences?
Hey all, I have had chronic Candida overgrowth for probably 5 years already. As of yet, any medication that I have tried only worked for a week or so and then my symptoms came back. When I tried natural remedies, and I did it for over a year, they helped me at the moment but as soon as I stopped my symptoms came back. I can not eat, pretty much anything but lettuce and cucumbers and garlic. Those are the three things that will not cause me to be in severe pain. Basically, it’s as if I am allergic to all foods that cause Candida to grow. My symptoms started out with a severe yeast infection and went to cystitis then to severe weight gain and in the process I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. I did the full treatment for Hepatitis C and during the one year treatment all my Candida problems went away. And again, as soon as I concluded my treatment my body went back to having the same Candida problems as before, the weekly yeast infections, the severe pain during urination, etc.
I am pretty sure that my Hepatitis C was cause by my chronic Candida infection, but our knowledgeable doctors can not diagnose Candida overgrowth and blame it on something else. To date, I am still struggling with chronic Candida overgrowth and after tons of research and trials of herbal medications I have yet to find an actual cure, not just a cover up for the problem.
I would love it if someone, who had a similar experience as mine and found a cure for the infection, helped me out in this dire situation. I will be forever grateful, and I do want to mention that I know quiet a few people who have gone through the same thing that I am going through, but till this date have not been successful in finding an actual solution to the problem. Any information is greatly appreciated.
A nutritionist is a good idea, thank you.
I have taken Diflucan and Nystatin but each time i stopped taking them I had recuring infections. And I did get tested for all kinds of STD’s and HIV and I am negative for all.

I don\\\’t believe your other health problems are a result of candida overgrowth. I believe it is probably just the opposite: the candida overgrowth is a result of a weakened immune system due to the other health issues you have.
I too, have Hepatitis C, problems with re-occurring yeast infections and digestive tract issues relating to candida. But my Hepatitis C was not caused by my candida issues. I contracted Hepatitis C by blood to blood contact with someone who carries the virus.
Candida overgrowth is a very common issue in women with Hepatitis C and seems to be a condition that is a by-product of the virus, just as arthritis and cirrhosis can be secondary conditions caused by Hep C.
One of the most helpful things I\\\’ve found is to follow a gluten-free and dairy-free diet. There are a number of studies suggesting Hepatitis C and Celiac\\\’s Disease (a disorder where the body has an intolerance to gluten, the protein in wheat, oats, barley and rye. The body cannot process the grain and views it as a toxin.) go hand-in-hand.
Additionally, I\\\’ve watched what people I know who have Celiac\\\’s Disease have gone through with candida overgrowth (and this is after many years on a gluten-free diet). It caused gas, bloating, diarrhea and abdominal pain, I wouldn\\\’t be surprised if there is a link between your health condition and gluten intolerance. I\\\’d recommend you research Celiac\\\’s Disease and see if it might shed some light on your consistent health issues and candida overgrowth. Good luck in finding a solution that works for you.
Take Care,
Leslie
