Can eating yogurt prevent a yeast infection?

I am about to start taking Flagyl for a vaginal infection. From what I understand, this medicine causes yeast infections. Will eating yogurt prevent me getting a yeast infection and how much yogurt should I consume to prevent one?

It can help. Yogurt has natural live bacteria. Antibiotics kill good bacteria as well as bad, so it helps to replace the good (to keep things in balance). Just one a day is usually good for basic maintenance, but you may want to have a second while you are taking the meds (just to be safe). You can also buy acidophilus tabs. That is the active bacteria in yogurt. It is more expensive, though.
Women often catch yeast infections after taking antibiotics, because the drug kills past its sell-by date the natural germs and yeast takes over. I’ve hear that eating yogurt beside active cultures can abet replace the natural microbes. But…how are those bacteria supposed to procure from the digestive tract to the reproductive tract? Or does the yogurt only benefit the gut and does nil to prevent yeast infections?
I doubt it could be through the bloodstream, because any bacteria contained by the blood is a serious medical condition. If it’s across the skin, it would seem you’d own a hygiene problem.
i dont think it does, but there are alot that do, but i dont think flagyl’s one em. u should be fine. side effects: dizziness, HA, GI upset, anorexia, urine discoloration. If a yeast infection was a side effect, it would’ve been listed more than likely. Ive taken it b4 n never have i gotten a yeast infection. as far as yogurt, u dont need to eat bunches of it cuz ur takin the flagyl. ur good
